Console Repair That Goes Deeper Than Cleaning

We repair PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and other game consoles with real diagnostics, port repair, thermal service, storage checks, board-level capability when practical, and honest repair recommendations.

A dust blowout is not a repair. We diagnose the actual failure.

Bring it in and we will tell you what failed, what it takes to fix it, and whether the repair makes sense.

No guesswork. No unnecessary repairs.

Diagnostic Process

Console Problems Usually Have a Real Cause

A console may stop working because of overheating, HDMI damage, storage failure, liquid damage, power issues, dirty internals, failed ports, software corruption, or board-level faults. We diagnose the actual problem before recommending repair.

HDMI and port diagnostics

We inspect HDMI ports, USB ports, charging ports, connector damage, loose ports, bent pins, and board-level port issues.

Power and startup checks

We test no-power symptoms, startup failures, power supplies, internal shorts, boot loops, and console shutdown behavior.

Thermal and cleaning service

We inspect dust buildup, fan behavior, thermal paste, overheating, shutdowns, and cooling-related performance problems.

Storage and software checks

We check storage health, failed updates, boot problems, corrupted software, slow loading, and data risk when applicable.

How this works

1

Get it to us

Drop it off, mail it in, schedule service, or request pickup and delivery.

2

We diagnose it

We inspect the device, run hardware and software diagnostics when applicable, isolate the issue, and explain what we found.

3

You approve the repair

We review pricing, parts, timing, and whether repair makes sense before moving forward.

4

We repair and verify

We complete the repair, test the device, and confirm it is ready before return.

Drop off
Walk in during business hours.
Mail in
Ship the console to our shop.
Schedule service
Pick a time that works for you.
Pickup & delivery
Local door-to-door option.

Pickup and delivery is available to anyone within 15 miles of our office for a $50 pickup/delivery fee. This is door pickup and drop-off only. If you need us to come inside, set up equipment, troubleshoot on-site, or perform any work at your location, it becomes an on-site service call with a 1-hour minimum at $200/hour.

Once we identify the issue, here is how pricing works:

How Pricing Works

Simple console repair pricing

Transparent pricing. No surprises after diagnosis.

Xbox · PS5 · Switch
Console Repair
$150 + parts

Most general console repairs.

Your $100 drop-off deposit is applied toward this repair minimum if you approve the repair.

Final pricing depends on the console model, issue, parts availability, board condition, liquid damage, port damage, and repair complexity.

Most Common
HDMI Port Replacement
$150 flat rate

Xbox Series X / PS5 HDMI repair.

Component-level microsoldering performed in-house.

Severely damaged board pads or traces may require additional repair work, quoted separately after inspection.

Deposit Policy
Deposit Policy
$100 deposit at drop-off
  • Applied toward the repair if approved
  • Covers diagnostic labor if you decline the repair
  • Not an extra fee when repair is approved
  • Liquid damage diagnostics use a separate $150 deposit

Repair timelines

Repair timelines depend on the issue, parts availability, current workload, and service level. Standard repairs enter the normal queue. Rush and emergency options may be available when timing matters.

Board-level console repair

Some console failures can be repaired at component level, such as HDMI port damage, failed fuses, capacitors, resistors, connectors, charging components, or shorted parts. Not every board is repairable, but when repair is practical, it may save money compared to full board replacement.

Liquid-damaged console?

Liquid-damaged consoles need real electronics diagnostics. We charge a $150 liquid damage diagnostic deposit, and that deposit applies toward the cost of service if you approve the repair. We clean, inspect, diagnose, and repair at the board level when possible.

Common Console Issues

Common console problems we see every day

No power

Power supply, internal shorts, damaged ports, or board-level fault diagnosis.

No display

HDMI port, board pads, video output, cable, or display signal checks.

Broken HDMI port

Loose, bent, or board-separated HDMI port repair and inspection.

Overheating

Dust, fan behavior, thermal paste, airflow, and shutdown analysis.

Loud fan

Fan health, dust buildup, thermal load, and cooling system checks.

Disc drive problems

Read errors, eject behavior, noise, mechanical, and cable issues.

Storage or boot failure

Drive health, boot loops, update failures, corruption, and data risk.

Liquid damage

Spill cleanup, corrosion, connector damage, and board-level faults.

Not all issues are obvious. Here is what we commonly find.

Real-World Failure Modes

What actually fails in consoles

Not a generic checklist. These are the specific console failures we see on the bench every week.

HDMI ports

HDMI ports can loosen, break, bend, or separate from the board, causing no display or intermittent video.

Power circuits

No-power issues can come from power supplies, internal shorts, board faults, damaged connectors, or failed components.

Cooling systems

Dust, clogged vents, fan issues, old thermal paste, and poor airflow can cause overheating and shutdowns.

Storage devices

Failed or corrupted storage can cause boot loops, slow loading, update failures, crashes, or data loss.

Disc drives

Disc drives can fail mechanically, stop reading discs, make noise, jam, or develop board and cable issues.

USB and charging ports

Damaged USB-C, USB-A, charging, or accessory ports can cause power, controller, charging, or connection problems.

Liquid damage and corrosion

Liquid can damage connectors, ports, circuits, buttons, storage, and motherboard components.

Board-level components

Some console failures come from failed chips, fuses, capacitors, resistors, connectors, or shorted components.

Console Diagnostics

What We Actually Test

Hardware, software, port, and thermal checks specific to game consoles.

HDMI and display output

HDMI port condition, display signal, cable behavior, video output, and board-level HDMI symptoms.

Power behavior

Power supply, startup behavior, shutdowns, standby symptoms, short detection, and power-related faults.

Thermal behavior

Fan function, temperatures, airflow, dust buildup, thermal paste, and heat-related shutdowns.

Storage and boot

Drive health, boot behavior, update failures, corruption, slow loading, and data risk.

Ports and connectors

USB, charging, accessory ports, board connectors, loose ports, bent pins, and physical damage.

Disc drive operation

Disc loading, eject behavior, read errors, drive noise, mechanical faults, and cable issues.

Software and updates

System updates, boot loops, safe mode behavior, corruption, account-safe reset options, and recovery paths.

Board behavior

Shorts, corrosion, damaged traces, failed components, and intermittent board-level symptoms.

Why ProTek

What Makes Us Different

Most shops swap parts and guess. We diagnose the actual failure and repair it properly.

Real console diagnostics

We test the console instead of assuming the most obvious part is the only problem.

Port and soldering capability

We can handle many HDMI, USB, charging port, connector, and board-level soldering repairs.

Thermal repair experience

We clean, service, and verify cooling systems instead of just blowing dust around and calling it fixed.

Board-level capability

When practical, we can repair certain component-level faults instead of replacing the whole board.

Repair verification

We test the console after repair to confirm power, display, controls, thermals, and normal operation.

Honest repair advice

If repair does not make sense compared to replacement, we will tell you before you spend money unnecessarily.
