This Seagate wouldn't mount on any computer. The problem wasn't mechanical — it was in the firmware. We resolved the firmware issues, gained full sector access, and recovered 99% of the user's data.
Firmware failures are sneaky. The drive sounds fine, looks fine, but won't talk to anything. Knowing the difference between a firmware problem and a dead drive is what gets your data back.
